Don’t Reinvent the Wheel
Once you have narrowed down the focus of your job search to specific industries/roles you need to educate yourself on the profile of successful candidates. If you’re applying for an investment banking analyst role, it may serve you well to obtain two or three examples of resumes from individuals who are currently in that position. Similarly, if you’re applying to be a marketing assistant, you may ask for several examples of cover letters that successfully landed jobs.
The same resume/cover letter/interview responses won’t work in every situation; people are different and have unique skills and experiences and the context of each interview process is different. However, it will serve you well to understand what successful profiles look like for each job. Do the research to find out what has worked for others and your own job search will improve.
